Sara Jamieson

Drummer Artist Festival Coordinator

As a drummer, artist, and festival coordinator, I strive to combine my skills in musical performance and event organizing to best share the joy of music with all people.

Biography

Do you ever wonder how to get a whole room of people tapping their feet, smiling, and dancing? Sara Jamieson did. Ten years ago, when she started playing the drums, she set out to bring people together through the power of music. Not only is she formally trained in jazz drumming, but has played a plethora of different genres: funk, rock, pop, fusion, folk, alternative, and more! Her jazz background gives her an edge against other drummers because of the demanding focus on technique and musicianship required for a bachelor in Jazz Performance.

With big bands, trios, and combos in cafes, resturants, homes, and parks, Sara has played in many settings. Some stand-out groups are as follows. Sara spent four years playing in her high school jazz band as the lead drummer for three years. Along with her two companions on keyboard and bass, she played in the Rumi Shimada Trio for three years and counting. Last year to date, she has played in five jazz combos and one Big Swing Band in the Thompson Jazz Studies program at CU Boulder. These gigs, and many others, provided Sara with excellent experience.

Ten bands, one stage. In addition to playing the drums, Sara carries on her affection for bringing people together through music by organizing Summerfest. Networking and finding musicians is the first step, and then taking these connections and organizing a music festival is where Sara’s creativity, patience, and determination get featured (along with her playing onstage). If you need someone who can be counted on for a few jokes, organization, and drive, give Sara a call.
